The power of product placement and influencers

When KD Paine talks about influencers and the power that influencers have for brands and companies in chapter 8 of Measure What Matters, the first thing that came to my mind was product placement on television shows. I remember when I was a teenager; I would watch The OC religiously every week and have to know where the characters clothes were from because I had to dress like my favorite character. There was an episode where a character wore a shirt from American Eagle, and when I went to the store the next day in search of said shirt, the employee told me that they had sold out of all the shirts that day.
